Our team consists of highly experienced and skilled clinicians able to provide support across a range of modalities including CBT, Person-Centred Therapy, DDP, DBT, Creative Psychotherapy (Art, Dance and Movement), EMDR, Speech and Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy.

Karen Moffett
Managing Director
With a background within HR management, Karen leads the delivery of high quality therapeutic and clinical services and training for professionals, parents and young people for bMindful. Her considerable senior management and HR experience spans multiple sectors from education and local government to manufacturing, construction and social care services where she has held senior board level positions in a variety of health and social care organisations. Karen is extremely passionate about delivering high quality specialist psychology services with particular focus on children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma so that they can reach their potential and have rich and meaningful lives.
Dr Stuart Hepworth
B.Sc., Clin.Psy.D. - Clinical Director
Stuart is our Clinical Director and a Clinical Psychologist. He has over fifteen years post qualification experience working with young people with complex mental health presentations, developmental difficulties and adverse childhood experiences. Since 2007, Stuart has worked specifically within provisions providing residential care to children and young people. Stuart is registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care professionals Council (HCPC) and is also a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), including the Division of Clinical Psychology. Stuart is passionate about improving the lives of children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and/or social exclusion.
Julia Gale
Clinical Psychologist
Julia is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), Division of Clinical Psychology. She has over 10 years experience in working with adults and young people with mental health difficulties. Julia has previously worked within an NHS/Local Authority Fostering and Adoption Psychology Service and also within independent practice.
Julia has experience of undertaking complex assessments and formulations, as well as delivering interventions with individuals underpinned by evidence-based approaches.

Heather Minshull
Educational Psychologist
Heather qualified as an educational psychologist from the University of Bristol. Prior to joining BMindful Psychology, Heather provided core and traded educational psychology services, to a portfolio of schools in Greater Manchester. Her most recent role involved her working alongside Manchester Virtual School, creating and delivering Attachment Aware / Trauma Informed services , to schools, carers / social workers and settings, for children looked after by Manchester City Council. Heather has received focused training from Refugee Action and has practice experience, enabling her to guide professionals in meeting the needs young people, separated from their parents and families, who are looked after as unaccompanied asylum seekers (UASC). Heather has extensive experience of working with specialist school settings for young people who have significant needs associated with their social, emotional and mental health.
Aimée Thornton
Art Psychotherapist
Aimée is a qualified Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). Prior to joining the team at bMindful, Aimée has gained significant experience as a Practitioner with a demonstrated history of working in Mental/Health Care settings, schools, residential/foster care and National Probation Service (NPS). Aimée is a committed practitioner and extremely passionate about providing the highest standard of holistic therapeutic care to support others.

Emaan Khan
Assistant Psychologist
Emaan completed her BSc Psychology Masters Degree at the University of Manchester in 2022 and has been working closely with bMindful during her studies. Throughout this period Emaan has been able to further develop her knowledge and increase her understanding of both child and adolescent behaviours.
Emaan strives to supporting vulnerable children within the childcare system in order for them to attain their maximum potential, both mentally and physically, and actively turn her knowledge into practice within the industry. In the future, Emaan plans to continue to develop her knowledge, specifically looking into the cognitive development of young people in a clinical environment.

Louise Knox
Senior Child and Educational Psychologist
Louise is an experienced Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professionals Council. Louise is ADOS 2 trained and is experienced in completing neurodevelopmental assessments and provision of post diagnostic support for parents and carers. She has published research relating to emotionally based school non-attendance and has led in the development of borough-wide early intervention practice and specialist Education Other Than in Schools packages to support anxious children and young people to re-access education and meaningful opportunities beyond this.
Louise is a flexible and creative psychologist who enjoys co-production and using applied psychology in innovative ways.

Melanie Smith
Psychotherapist
Melanie is a Psychotherapist with over 14 years of experience in working with children & young people with attachment and trauma difficulties and complexed mental health issues. Melanie has a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Lancaster graduating, and is registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Since graduating she has worked as a Psychotherapist within the looked after children’s setting working with young people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences. She has experience within residential homes as a senior and deputy manager supporting young people with complexed mental health needs and holds a Diploma in Leadership and Management. Melanie has also completed an extended course with the University of Salford on Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
Beth Duckett
Art Psychotherapist
Beth is a HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist and has been supporting children and young people for many years across both NHS and private sectors.
She has extensive experience of undertaking assessments and collaboratively working with parents and carers to create therapeutic care plans and interventions tailored to suit the needs of the young person, their families and carers. Beth brings with her the ability to adapt her skills to provide support and training to care teams, consultation and the ongoing development of mental health services.

Kelly Androna
Dance Movement Psychotherapist
Kelly is a Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist with many years of experience working with children and young people, individually and in groups, across a range of settings including the NHS, community services, primary and secondary schools and adoption/fostering services (private sector and in social services). She has a BA (Joint Hons) in Psychology (2012) from the University of Northampton which she converted to a PgDip in Psychology at the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2021 and also a MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy from Edge Hill University (2017). Kelly also obtained her Level 7 Supervision of the Helping Professions PgCert in 2020. Kelly is registered with the ADMP UK within the UKCP umbrella of registered psychotherapeutic professions.​
Tiffany Maksymow
Art Psychotherapist
Tiffany is a HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist. She has a BA (Hons) degree in Art and Design and a master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy. Tiffany has experience working with young people aged 0-18 years old, within community services and education. She has worked with young people with learning difficulties, neuro divergency, selective mutism, dyspraxia, dyslexia and other developmental issues. Tiffany also has experience working with looked after children and within a school behavioural unit. With her experience Tiffany enjoys working collaboratively with parents, careers, and school to achieve a therapeutic plan to support the young person in their life. Tiffany is very passionate about developing a young person’s relationship with the world and helping them to realise and reach their potential in life with their own innate vibrancy.
Michelle Pennington
Practice Manager
Michelle has worked in administration departments in clinical settings for over 15 years. She is now the practice manager for bMindful Psychology and is the key point of contact for patient’s families and referring clinicians and will assist with fee packages for self-funding private patients. Michelle has worked in both hospital and mental health settings, providing support to Senior Management and Executive Boards, together with ensuring the smooth running of the office.

Katie Sammonds
Finance Director
Katie has worked in the health and social care sector for a number of year, including being Head of Commercial Finance at Advanced Childcare, the largest provider of children’s residential services, fostering and education in the UK. She is a founding member of bMindful Psychology carrying out group-wide financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, as well as supporting on numerous commercial projects, acquisitions and integrations, tenders and new service launches.

Chrissy Orson
Psychotherapist
Chrissy is a BACP registered psychotherapist who completed an MA at the University of Manchester, registering in 2014. She is an integrative therapist who draws on a number of models to inform her thinking and work with young people. She has been working within the education and mental health sectors for over 15 years. Prior to working for bMindful, Chrissy was working with a local authority supporting education settings to have a whole setting approach to mental health and develop trauma-aware thinking and processes. Alongside this, as a therapist Chrissy has supported adults and young people with complex mental health difficulties and experiences of trauma. Chrissy is passionate about supporting settings to increase therapeutic interactions around young people, in turn enabling young people to develop new ways of thinking about themselves.

Harrison Lee
Assistant Psychologist
Harrison is a BSc (Hons) and MSc Forensic Psychology British Psychology Society graduate member. He has a range of clinical and research experiences, including working in a brain injury unit, an acute mental health ward, the residential sector, and a research role with the United Nations.
Harrison has worked with a variety of individuals, ages, and backgrounds, including personality disorders, acquired brain injuries, learning difficulties, asylum seekers, and those involved in the criminal justice system. Harrison has a particular interest working with young people who display complex needs and present trauma-related behaviours. He works under the direct supervision of a qualified psychologist to administer assessments and formulations to identify the cognitive and individual needs of young people with adverse experiences. Harrison is passionate about helping those from often negatively stigmatised groups and taking a trauma-informed approach in changing the lives of young people.

Katie Peter
Psychotherapist
With her extensive experience as a CBT psychotherapist and EMDR Practitioner, Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. She specialises in working with those with complex trauma experiences and forensic histories. She is passionate about supporting those working with the adults around the child to understand formulation, foster self-reflection and generate helpful strategies.

Claire Simpson
Assistant Psychologist
Claire has significant experience working with children and young people and supporting their families and carers.
​
Prior to joining the team at bMindful, Claire worked within an edge of care team. Working with young people on the edge of care and their families and looked after children living in foster placements and residential care, providing intensive support, crisis management and planning and implementing young person led direct work.
​
Claire has worked in residential settings, providing therapeutic parenting, and using the PACE model, and in education settings, delivering Lego Therapy, planning interventions, and providing individualised support for children with autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) and those finding it difficult to be in an education setting.
She also has experience working with young women staying in a mental health unit who have experienced significant trauma and had been given diagnoses of personality disorders.
Claire is passionate about trauma informed and attachment aware practice and encouraging therapeutic interactions between young people and those who care for them.
Gemma Leathley
Operational Lead & Art Psychotherapist
Gemma is an Art Psychotherapist and has significant experience at working with children and young people.
Gemma has worked alongside multiagency teams, including CAMHS, Education, Social Services, Health Care, the Police, and is experienced in supporting professionals
understanding of trauma, including offering
consultation, training programmes and
reflection spaces.
Gemma is a trained Clinical Supervisor and a
qualified EMDR Practitioner.
Holly Fewtrell
Psychotherapist
Holly is a person-centred Psychotherapist and registered member of the BACP. Following her graduation from Salford University in 2016, she obtained a Post-Graduate certificate with The University of Manchester in Evidence Based Psychological Treatments to support children and young people’s mental health.
Holly has previously worked in the charity sector, residential care, and for the NHS within schools across Liverpool. This has enabled her to obtain vast experience of assessing children’s mental health difficulties and generating formulations for the implementation of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Holly has joined bMindful with a passion to provide a trauma-informed systemic approach to the therapeutic care of children and young people.
